A Monopole antenna based on quadratic Bazier outlines for UWB applications

Mr. Djalal Ziani, Dr. fatima zahra marouf, Sidi mohamed MERIAH

A novel printed monopole antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications, has introduced in this paper. Quadratic B├ęzier curves (spline) are used to describe the outlines of the antenna; the design of the radiator and the ground plane based on study of recent patents correlated to the same technique. The proposed antenna operates over bandwidth (3.12 to 17.6GHz) for return loss S11< -10 dB; and also shows omnidirectional radiation patterns with good gain flatness over the frequency range of interest. Its numerical model has designed and simulated in CST microwave studio using the finite integrate technique (FIT).Both shapes of radiating element and ground plane are simultaneously optimized to exhibit a good UWB characteristics. These antenna also satisfy time-domain characteristics that shown a variation of the group delay less than 1 ns, and a small pulse distortion. All these performances indicate that the proposed antenna is suitable for UWB applications.
